Southern style and Big Momma's Sweet Beans

Southern style barbecue baked beans

Ingredients:

1. 4-16 ounce cans of pork and beans drained
2. 8 slices of bacon cooked well done and crumbled
3. 2 teaspoons of dry mustard
4. 4 tablespoons of brown sugar
5. 1 red bell pepper cleaned and chopped
6. 1 green bell pepper cleaned and chopped
7. 1 cup of barbecue sauce
8. 1 large onion diced
9. ¼-teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

In a large saucepan, combine your cans of drained pork and beans, cooked bacon, mustard, brown sugar, red and green bell pepper, barbecue sauce, and diced onion. Cook on medium heat stirring occasionally making sure not to let it stick, for approximately 30 minutes. Reduce to low and allow to cook for about another hour. Your beans are complete and ready to eat!

Big Momma's Sweet Beans Recipe

Ingredients

• 4 cans of pork and beans
• 1 medium onion
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 4 thick cut bacon slices cooked
• ¼-cup honey
• ½-cup barbecue sauce
• 1 crock pot
• 1 cheese grater

Wash and peel your onion. There is no need to spend time cutting your onion and hurting your eyes. Grab your cheese grater and grate the onion across the large hole area. This will give you perfectly sliced onion pieces. In addition, you can do it right over the crock pot. Drain the cans of beans and add in with onions, brown sugar, cooked and crumbled bacon, and honey barbecue sauce. Turn your crock pot on low, cover, and let cook for at least 4 hours.

However, you can leave it to cook all day. Be sure to check it a time or two throughout the day and add a bit of water if it seems to get too thick. In addition, this is great for taking to potluck's at work and cookouts at friends houses because you can plug it in and keep it hot!
