Cube Steak on the BBQ or Grill

Grilling and barbecuing is commonly associated to cuts of meat other than cube steaks, but these are a good alternative to spendCubed Steakan unforgettable Sunday with your family and friends enjoying the sunshine around your garden and taking off your barbecue grill to enjoy this tender cut of meet that people rarely include in their weekend shopping list when planning an outdoor family reunion, especially during spring and summertime.

BBQ-Grilled Steaks


  • 1 teaspoon allspice,
  • ground
  • 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 lb. 6 oz cube steaks, 1 inch thick


Combine the first six ingredients in a small bowl. It is advisable to mix these ingredients one week ahead of time keeping them stored in an air-tight amber container, or simply away from direct sunlight or heat sources. The BBQ chosen day, prepare your barbecue grill at high heat. Rub the spice mixture generously into both sides of the cub steaks pinching slightly the meat with a fork. Grill cube steaks until reach the desired doneness, a one-inch thick cube steak takes approximately three minutes per side for a medium-rare. Increase or decrease this time to get the meat as you wish.
