Macaroons Recipes

Macaroons just look so festive and are such a delight to serve during the holidays. As with most holiday cookie and cakes recipes there are so many different variations to try that you may have to serve more than one type with their own unique flavoring.

For the easiest macaroons to create, you will need:

  •  3 cups of shredded coconut,
  • 1 cup of milnot or sweetened condensed milk,
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla,
  • teaspoon of almond extract and
  • your favorite jam or jelly.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease your cookie sheet. In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients until well blended. Drop by spoonfuls onto the cookie sheet, using the back of a spoon press down to even out each cookie and leave a small indentation in the center. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. When the macaroons are completely cool and one spoonful of jam into the indentation and they are ready to serve.

There are other variations such as using chocolate squares for a delightful coconut and chocolate combination. For this recipe you will need a double boiler or a metal bowl that you can sit over a pan of boiling water:

  • 1 can of milnot or sweet condensed milk,
  • 3 squares of unsweetened chocolate,
  • 8 ounces of shredded coconut,
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla and
  • your favorite jam or jelly.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease your cookie sheet. In the top of a double boiler or the metal bowl, mix together the milk, and chocolate.

When the chocolate has melted and has become thick, remove from heat. Add the vanilla and coconut and stir until well blended. Drop by spoonfuls onto the greased cookie sheet and repeat the procedure in the first recipe.

Everyone will love these unique and tasty treats for dessert or for a snack during the holidays.
