Snowball Cookie Recipes
Around Christmastime we usually have snow or are wishing for a “White Christmas” because of these snowball cookies are very popular and also yummy. When you have these cookies on a platter everyone will have to have more than one.
The recipes are basically the same for creating this holiday dessert and you will have fun trying your own method to come up with interesting new flavors.
For this first recipe for snowball cookies you will need:
- ¾ cup of margarine, 2/3 cup of sugar,
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla,
- 2 cups of flour,
- ½ of cocoa, and
- 2 cups of chopped nuts.
Stir together the sugar and margarine until well blended and then add the vanilla. In another bowl, stir together the flour and cocoa. Add the dry mixture to the sugar mixture. Mix until well blended. Now, add the chopped nuts and refrigerate for 2 hours. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Shape the dough into 1 inch balls and place on an un-greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Then roll in powdered sugar. Your snowballs are ready to serve.
Instead of using cocoa you can also use chocolate chips, as you will see with this next recipe.
You will need:
- 2 cups of all purpose flour,
- ¾ cup of margarine,
- ¾ cup of sugar,
- 2 teaspoon of vanilla,
- 1 egg,
- 16 ounces of chocolate chips, and
- cup of chopped pecans.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix together the margarine, sugar, and vanilla until well blended, then add the egg. Add the flour and blend well. Add the chocolate chips and chopped pecans and stir.
Shape the cookie dough into 1 inch balls and bake on an un-greased cookie sheet for 20 minutes and then roll in confectioner’s sugar.
With this recipe you can also use other flavorings along with the vanilla or as a substitute. You can use almond extract if you prefer and leave out the chopped nuts.
