You will find many delectable Chinese food recipes on our website. You may not be able to cook like in the Orient or have the same kinds of ingredients, but at least you can mildly relive your trip in the comfort of home. Just look for almost any duck recipe and you’ll have a taste of the oriental culture. While on your vacation you probably saw them hung up in rows and probably ate quite a bit of it too. Well here’s a quick Chinese Duck recipe to help you in your search of recreating that feeling. For this Chinese Duck recipe, first you’ll of course need: - your ducks (roughly 1 per 2 people) or find duck breasts with the skin still on, salt, pepper,
- 1 cup of chicken stock,
- 1 cup white wine,
- 1 shallot that has been finely chopped,
- ¼ cup of honey,
- ¼ cup of pine nuts (almost always found in the produce section of your local grocery store),
- and ¼ cup of chopped cilantro.
First things first, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Take the ducks if they are whole and remove the breast meat from them (you can do what you wish with the rest of the bird, I would remove the rest of the meat and cook it along side the breasts). Salt and pepper the breasts to your own taste. Take a skillet and place over medium heat, place the duck breasts skin side down for roughly 7 minutes.
On a baking sheet place the duck breast side up in the oven. Cook another 7 minutes in the oven. While it’s in the oven it’s time to make our sauce. In a small pan place the wine, honey, stock, and shallots. Let the liquid thicken slightly then place in the cilantro and pine nuts. Take the duck out of the oven and slice the breasts into thin pieces. Place the skin of the duck on the top and then pour the sauce over the duck pieces. All done, you just made a quick and easy Chinese duck recipe; hopefully it’ll rekindle some of the vacation for you!
