Duck a l'orange Recipe

If you are looking for a wonderful experience to bring to your dinner table that your family will enjoy then you must try a Duck a l'orange recipe. Taste sunny European France in this wonderful dish. In French this dish is called Canard A l"orange, where Canard stand for Duck.

You may think because of the fancy name that it is hard to prepare a Duck a l'orange recipe but that is so far from the truth. A matter of fact, you will probably even enjoy preparing this delectable meal.

For this Duck a l'orange recipe you will need:

  • one cut up duck,
  • ½ cup of your favorite wine,
  • 1 tablespoon of orange peelings,
  • 2 tablespoons of minced garlic,
  • 2 tablespoon of salad oil,
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch,
  • 1 ¼ cups of orange juice,
  • 1 tablespoon of molasses,
  • ¼ teaspoon of ginger, and
  • 1 cup of mandarin oranges sections.

You should have about 1 pound of duck per person. Heat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Stab the ducwith a fork in several places and place in a roasting pan. Pour the wine over the cut up duck and bake for about 25 minutes per pound, basting once every 5 minutes.

In a saucepan, add the orange peel and sauté for just a few minutes, and then add the cornstarch and stir until smooth. Add the orange juice slowly and mix, then add the honey and stir until well blended. Once the mixture is blended well add the remaining wine. Simmer for 1 minute and then add the ginger and the mandarin orange slices and then continue cooking for about 5 minutes. Serve along side the duck or pour over your ducks.

This is just one way of preparing a Duck a l'orange recipe, you can use some of your favorite other ingredients to bring a unique flavor to your dinner table including such items as onions, green peppers, or even other fruits that go well with orange like pineapple. Just add these types of ingredients to the sauce as you are simmering to add a new taste to the traditional Duck a l'orange recipe.
