Irish Duck Roast Recipe

Now that you’re done hunting for your ducks, you have a nice duck to whip up a nice dinner for you friends and family.

Duck is one of the best foods out there and it is such a good and healthy food. There are all sorts of different ways of cooking duck. Every culture has there own way of cooking duck and so do families. Roast Duck Dish

The Irish culture has a great way of cooking duck and other foods and the Irish Duck Roast recipe is one of them. You’ll have to make a stop at the grocery store and pick up a few things but it will be worth it. When you get home you can start getting things chopped up and ready to go.

You will need the following ingredients for your Irish Duck Roast recipe:

  • 3 pounds of the duck,
  • Salt and pepper, Flour,
  • two cloves of garlic (peeled and halved),
  • ¼ cup of butter or margarine,
  • 1 teaspoon of water,
  • 1 teaspoon of Dijon type mustard,
  • 2 tablespoons of Red currant jelly,
  • 1 cup of sherry, wine or chicken broth and a
  • tad of cornstarch.

Now you will need to clean your birds well and dry them. Rub on the flour and sprinkle on salt and peeper. Warm your garlic cloves with vegetable oil until they sizzle. Add your birds and brown them all over. Put the birds in a deep casserole dish along with the garlic cloves. Pour some vegetable oil over the birds. Pour your sherry, wine or broth around the birds. Roast the ducks uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour.

When the juices run clear when you stab the bird with a fork, remove the ducks from the oven and turn the oven off. Place the ducks on a platter. Strain juices and place in a saucepan, bring them to a boil. Add cornstarch and water to the boiling juice: Boil until it becomes thick. Season with your mustard, jelly or other favorite spices.
