Orange Duck Recipe

It’s yet another day and yet another meal.


Its hard bringing variety to the table night after night without resorting to fast food or a quick store bought meal.

Actually though duck has more flavors to it and goes well with almost any kind of fruit or vegetable. Things like apples, oranges, pears, and cherries are perfect for a great duck recipe. You might to start with something simple like an Orange Duck Recipe, this is an easy and quick meal for a duck cooking beginner and any person that has every tasted duck in a restaurant or at a dinner party knows this will be an awesome dinner.

You’ll only need a couple things for this recipe Orange Duck recipe, the most important of which is of course the duck, make sure you get one with the gizzards, heart, and neck still attached.

The other things you’ll need are:

  • 2 whole naval oranges,
  • 1 cup orange marmalade,
  • cup of vinegar,
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch, and
  • 2 cups of duck bullion.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit first. Remove all the fat from the bird along with the 3 things mentioned above, the gizzard, heart, and the neck. Place these things in 4 cups of water and cook on low heat. To the prep the duck you first need to peel the oranges, take these and stuff them inside the duck.

Place the duck on a foil baking pan and place in the oven to roast for roughly 3 hours (use what the directions on the duck say. When duck is close to being done place the vinegar and marmalade in the duck bullion and remove the neck piece.

Add the 3 tablespoons of cornstarch to a bowl, stir in enough water until the texture is pasty, add this paste to the duck sauce. Allow of the sauce to thicken and then add the orange slices. When the duck is ready remove it from the oven and carve the meat off. When you are ready to serve it top the meat slices with the sauce.

There you have it, an easy but very tasteful beginning to duck cooking.
