Croutons, the Story, and a Recipe
Croutons are great. This healthy crouton recipe is a take on the traditional crouton flavor with a lemon kick. You may ask yourself, "What is missing from my salad?"
Croutons Magic in Soups and Salads
Well have I got the answer for you and it comes in super sized super tasting crouton. Your salad will be lonely no more and your taste buds will love you. Everybody wins.
Ingredients: - 12 slices of whole grain bread
- 4 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp. parsley flakes
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
To Make:
Preheat the oven to 325. Cut each slice of bread into 8 pieces. This makes the bread into extra large croutons.
Cut them into smaller pieces if they are too big for your tastes. The easiest way to do this recipe is to put the ingredients into small individual bowls. Then take one crouton and put it into the bowl with the olive oil.
Do not completely submerse it. You do not want it completely soaked, just a little bit damp. It needs just enough to be able to hold on to the other ingredients. Then move the crouton to the lemon juice bowl. A little lemon will do the trick. You do not need a lot. Next, go to the onion and garlic powder bowl. These two ingredients can be mixed together.
Roll the crouton in the powder and make sure all of the sides are covered. Then one roll in the parsley flakes and the crouton can be placed on the pre greased baking pan.
Repeat this seasoning process for each wanna be crouton. Bake these on 325 until they are a golden brown. This will usually take 10-12 minutes or less. Remove them from the oven and place the croutons on a paper towel.
Let the croutons cool before serving. Serve them with your favorite soup, salad, or just eat them alone as a crunchy snack. |
