A Healthy Granola Recipe -



This healthy granola recipe is so good you will swear it can not be nutritious. It definitely is. It has great flavors with the honey and cinnamon.

This home made granola is crunchy and sweet. It will be hard to keep around your house. Use it for breakfast to start your day or as a snack to keep you from eating all those cookies and candies.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp. peanut oil
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup vanilla soy milk
  • 1 cup raisins

To Make:

Preheat the oven to 325.Grease a shallow baking pan with an even layer of cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl, put the rolled oats, oatmeal, walnuts, wheat germ, and the raisins. Set this mixing bowl aside.

In a large sauce pan, combine the peanut oil, honey, vanilla soy milk, cinnamon, and vanilla. Cook this mixture on medium heat until it starts to make a small boil. Slowly add the brown sugar. Keep stirring to avoid burning the liquid. There are two ways to know when the mixture is done.

The honey will be very runny when it is done. Another way to tell is when all of the brown sugar has liquefied. Remove the pan from the heat and pour this liquid mixture onto the ingredients in the mixing bowl.

Stir quickly so that the granola will not harden. Pour the granola mix into the baking pan. Spread it evenly into the pan.

Cook the granola on 325 for 20-25 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool before serving. You can cut the cooked granola into small pieces or use it in cereal with soy milk or yogurt.
