Baked Steak Recipes
Preparing baked steak recipes is a breeze. All you need is the right recipe to get you going, and then you can substitute ingredients for once you like better. The secret is what makes a steak flavorful, tender, and easy to prepare.
Pan fried steak will delight all of your dinner guests. And will have them talking about your dinner party for days after the party.
Here is a great recipe to try for a dinner party of 6. You will need:
- 6 cube steaks,
- 1 cup of flour,
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder,
- ½ cup of shortening or vegetable oil,
- 4 tablespoons of flour for the gravy,
- 6 cups of water,
- 1 can of mushrooms,
- 1 green pepper,
- salt and pepper.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. First heat a small amount of oil in a skillet until the oil is hot. To test the oil, wet your fingers with a small amount of tap water and flick into the oil quickly. If the water dances around the pan, the oil is hot enough. Mix together the 1 cup of flour, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Roll each steak in the flour mixture being sure to coat completely. Now, brown both sides of the steaks in the hot oil. Then as the steaks are ready, place in a shallow baking dish, preferably one with a lid. If you do not have a lid you can use aluminum foil.
After the steaks are in the baking dish you are now ready to prepare the gravy. Make sure you have enough grease left in the pan to make the gravy if not add a little more shortening. Now, add the 4 tablespoons of flour, stir constantly until brown.
Add 2 cups of water continue stirring until the mixture thickens; add more water as needed until desired consistency. Stir in the mushrooms and then pour over steaks.
Bake covered for around 1 hour until the steaks are tender.
