Beef skirt plate steak recipes can include all types of vegetable including peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms. Cooking this type of steak sometimes may include marinating the steak overnight; others may not require marinating at all.

This recipe with mushrooms is an excellent example of a great recipe for skirt beef steak. This recipe will serve 4 hungry dinner guests. The ingredients you need include:

  •  9 ounces of your favorite red cooking wine,
  • 1 chopped onion,
  • 2 cloves of garlic chopped,
  • 1 sprig thyme,
  • 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine,
  • 1 pounds of beef skirt steak cubed,
  • 1 tablespoon of flour,
  • 1 cup of beef stock, salt, pepper, and
  • about 9 ounces of mushrooms.

 In a skillet, mix together wine, onion, garlic, and thyme over medium heat. Bring to boil and cook for approximately 10 minutes, then let cook.

In another skillet melt the butter or margarine, when the butter starts to brown add the steak. Cook the steak until it is evenly browned.

Take the steak out of the skillet and add it to the wine mixture. Set aside again.

Add the flour gradually into the skillet that you took the meat from. Stir continuously until the flour is slightly browned. Now, add the beef stock and continue stirring until it comes to a boil.

Add the salt and pepper, let simmer for around 10 minutes. Add the steak and wine mixture, cover and remain cooking on medium heat for around 45 minutes. After the 45 minutes, place the mushrooms on top of the steak, cover once again and cook an addition 10 minutes. Remove the steak and mushrooms and place them on a platter.

Cook the sauce until it is the thickness that you desire, and then pour over the steaks and mushrooms.
