What turns ordinary hamburger meat into a savory meal? The answer is simple, a good Salisbury steak recipe. All of these recipes call for cream of mushroom soup, but the breading that is used for each recipe differ to give the Salisbury steak a unique and wonderful new treat.

We can see from these two Salisbury steak recipes that most of the ingredients are the same. For the first one you will need:

  1. 1 can of cream of mushroom soup,
  2. 1 pound of ground beef (hamburger),
  3. ½ cup of dry bread crumbs(you can prepare these the night before with your own bread),
  4. 1 beaten egg,
  5. ½ cup of onions chopped, and
  6. 1 ½ cup of chopped or sliced mushrooms.

Mix together about ¼ can of the mushroom soup, the hamburger meat, bread crumbs, egg and the onion. Shape the mixture into the amount of patties that you need for dinner. Fry these in a skillet on medium high until well browned on both sides. Remove the steaks, and pour into the skillet the remaining soup and the mushrooms. Place the steaks back into the skillet and cook on low for 20 minutes turning every once in while.
