- 1 chopped onion,
- 2 minced garlic cloves,
- 2 melted tablespoons of butter or margarine(to keep the recipe in tact, use real butter),
- 1 16 ounce can of tomatoes,
- 8 pounces of tomato paste,
- ½ cup of finely chopped celery,
- 1/3 cup vinegar,
- ¼ cup of finely chopped green pepper,
- 1 bay leaf,
- 3 tablespoons of molasses,
- 2 teaspoons of dry mustard,
- 2 teaspoons of hot sauce,
- ½ teaspoon of ground clove,
- ½ teaspoon of ground allspice,
- 2 lemon slices, and
First you will need to sauté the onion and garlic in a little butter until tender, then add all the other ingredients and bring to a rolling boil.
Lower heat to medium low and simmer without a lid for around 30 minutes, stir every once in awhile. Take out the bay leaf and lemon slices after cooking for 30 minutes. Now, cook your steak and baste in this delicious sauce. Your family will love this sauce so much they want to use it for dipping all kinds of their favorite foods.
