Venison Steak Recipes - How to CookBefore you try out that new venison steak recipe you should know the basics on how to cook venison to get the most flavors out of the meat. One of the most complaints you hear about the taste of venison is the gamey flavor. You can in fact rid your venison of some of this gamey taste by trimming away as much fat as possible can. Also venison is some what of a dry meat and the different cuts need to be cooked in various ways to bring out the juicy flavor of the meat. Tenderloin, round steaks, loin steaks and chops should be cooked using these methods
broiling, frying, roasting or grilling. All of the other cuts can be used for stewing or
soups.
Marinate the venison steaks for at least 3 hours or overnight. Then grill the venison.
You can use the marinate to baste while cooking.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is preheating cut your venison steaks to approximately a 2 inch thickness. Slice each steak making a pocket for the stuffing. Season your venison steak with your favorite seasoning. Prepare the stuffing and place it in the pockets you made. Tie the steaks with cotton twine. Place the stuffed steaks in a baking dish. Stir together the tomato juice, lemon juice, and brown sugar, and pour over steaks. Cover the baking dish with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for around 30 minutes. |
