There are many fried shrimp recipes out there you just have to know where to look. Basically, they are all prepared the same. The secret to fried shrimp that is unique and tasty is in the breading and how you bread your shrimp.

As you read over the following fried shrimp recipes you will understand what I mean. For the first recipe you will need the following ingredients,:

  • 4 pounds of shrimp (peeled and de-veined),
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard,
  • 1 tablespoon of steak sauce,
  • 4 ounces of hot sauce,
  • 4 cups of all purpose flour,
  • 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper,
  • 3 tablespoons of seasoning salt,
  • oil for frying.

Mix together the Dijon mustard, steak sauce and hot sauce. Place the shrimp in this marinade and refrigerate covered for at least 4 hours, the longer the better. Prepare your deep fryer. Roll the shrimp in the flour and fry until golden brown. Serve with your favorite seafood sauce.

Fried shrimp recipes can include ingredients that you may never have thought of as cooking ingredients such as beer. But this recipe is very delectable as you will know after you prepare it just one time. You will need:

  • 1 pound of shrimp (peeled, de-veined and cut in the butterfly style),
  • 1/3 cup of all purpose flour,
  • 1/8 cup of cornmeal,
  • 1 12 ounce of your favorite beer,
  • salt and pepper to taste and oil for frying.

Place the shrimp in the beer and refrigerator for an hour in a covered dish. While the shrimp is marinating, mix together the rest of the ingredients. Roll the shrimp in the flour mixture and fry until golden brown.

There are many different ways to coat shrimp for fried shrimp recipes. You can use your own favorite ingredients to create some yummy fried shrimp dishes. To begin with you should always use all purpose flour, the self rising has baking soda added and can have a different flavor. Okay, you have your flour.

Now, do you want spicy or not? You can add any other dry ingredients to the breading such as cornmeal, cayenne pepper, seasoning salt, garlic powder, even chili powder. Now, you will need to soak your shrimp in something so the flour mixture will stay put while frying. You can use eggs with cream, water, milk, beer, or wine.

The egg will also help to the flour mixture cling to the shrimp. If you really want the flour mixture to stay well, then you flour your shrimp, then dip it in the egg mixture and then back into the flour mixture before frying. For a bit of a tropical flavor marinate your shrimp in pineapple juice one hour before breading and frying.
