How to Make an Awesome Tuna Salad

A tuna salad is a great alternative to a lunchmeat sandwich for your children’s school lunch or even for an afternoon snack. Tuna salad is much healthier than any lunch meat sold today. Shrimp womderful in a salad

The easiest tuna salad recipe to prepare uses:

  • 1 tablespoon of celery,
  • 2 tablespoons of miracle whip or mayonnaise,
  • 1 tablespoon of pickle relish,
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped onions,
  • one 6 ounce can of tuna packed in water, and
  • salt and pepper to taste.

Drain the tuna and then flake it into very small pieces, to this add the miracle whip and mix well. Now you can add the rest of the ingredients and stir.


You can make sandwiches with whole wheat bread or place in an air tight bowl and send crackers in their lunch. Your children will enjoy having something different for lunch and you will know that they are eating healthy.

You can also serve this seafood salad on a lettuce leaf with sliced peaches on the side.

The plate will not only look appealing but will be very tasty. You can also serve pineapple rings with a spoonful of cottage cheese in the center. Either one will be scrumptious.

Other ingredients that some people use in tuna salads include

  •  mustard,
  • ketchup,
  • hard boiled eggs,
  • chopped black olives,
  • chopped green onions,
  • chopped pimentos,
  • any color bell pepper, and even
  • jalapeno peppers.

Just remember  to drain and squeeze the fish or it may be too watery and cause your sandwiches to be soggy.

No one wants to get a soggy sandwich for lunch. 


You can add a lettuce leaf to the sandwich to protect the bread from becoming too soft. The best way in which to send seafood salads in a lunch is to pack the salad in an air tight container, the dressing in another container, and the bread separate.
