Apple Pecan Dressing

For a fruity and nutty flavor for your holiday dressing you should try Apple Pecan dressing.

This recipe will feed a large family up to 20 people. For this recipe you will need:

  • 2 cups of chopped onions,
  • 1 large chopped green pepper,
  • 4 chopped apples,
  •  8 minced garlic cloves,
  • 2 tablespoons of thyme,
  • 8 tablespoons of margarine,
  • 1 bag of prepared stuffing mix,
  • 2 cups of chopped green onions,
  • 2 cups of chopped celery,
  • 2 cups of chopped pecans,
  • 3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce,
  • 6 cups of chicken broth and the turkey giblets cooked and chopped.

Melt the butter in a large saucepan and then add all of the ingredients except for the stuffing mix and broth. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the apples are tender. Now, add the stuffing mix and stir together until well blended. Add a little broth at a time until your desire consistency. That’s it now you can stuff your turkey and roast as usual.

This apple pecan dressing uses cornbread for that southern stuffing taste that so many of us enjoy during the holiday. For this recipe you will need:

1 pan of cornbread prepared ahead of time an cooled, 8 ounces of prepared stuffing mix, 1 tablespoon of dried parsley, ½ teaspoon of ginger, 1 tablespoon of sugar, ¾ cup of margarine, 1 cup of diced celery, 1 cup of diced onion, 2 cups of apple cider, 2 cups diced apples, 3 beaten eggs, and ½ cup of chopped pecans. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a large baking dish. In a large mixing bowl crumble the cornbread, stuffing mix, parsley, and ginger. Melt the butter and sauté the celery and onion until tender and then add to the stuffing. Mix together and then add the apples, pecans, juice and beaten eggs. Toss together and then bake for 30 minutes or until done.
