Veal Marsala

Veal Marsala is served in some of the finest restaurants around the world. The secret of this unique dish is the Marsala wine. Now, that you know the basic ingredient you will be able to create your own unique veal Marsala and have everyone asking for your recipe. There are many different ingredients you can add that will change the flavor and give your veal Marsala a new taste that you can claim for you own. The recipe below for veal Marsala is the basic one used. You can add other items such as green pepper, or even hot and spicy ingredients to spice up your Veal Marsala.

For the basic Veal Marsala recipe you will need:

  • 12 Veal Cutlets,
  • about 1/3 cup of all purpose flour,
  • ¼ cup of butter or margarine,
  • 1½ lb sliced Portobello mushrooms,
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives,
  • 1½ cups beef broth,
  • ¾ cup Marsala wine, and
  • paprika, salt and
  • pepper to taste.

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour the flour onto a plate and gently roll the veal cutlet in the flour. Next, sauté the cutlets in a large skillet with just a small portion of the butter until they are lightly brown. Place the cutlets in a baking dish and sprinkle with the paprika.

Repeat this process until all cutlets are in the baking dish. Add more butter to the skillet and sauté the mushrooms for 5 minutes, and then add the chives, parsley, salt, pepper, broth and Marsala. Simmer for around 5 minutes. Pour this mixture over the veal cutlets and bake for 30 minutes.

While your veal Marsala is baking you can prepare the other side dishes or set the table. Side dishes that would be excellent with this include baked potatoes, broccoli or even a side salad. No matter what else you serve with your veal Marsala, all of your dinner guests will enjoy every morsel.
